Roads Motor Transportation

The Department regulates road transport operations, licensing, and permits for passenger and goods vehicles.

  • Coordinates with other departments like the Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) and Central Vehicle Registry (CVR).

This is a licence issued to transporters of goods. The licence is uniform for all Common Market for Eastern and South Africa (COMESA) Member States, and it carries the concept of extraterritorial jurisdiction in that is recognized when transiting through or destined to a COMESA Member State.

Requirements:

  1. Copy of an operator’s Licence.
  2. Registration book-horse and trailer.
  3. Certificate of fitness – horse and trailer.
  4. For a company a copy of certificate of incorporation.
  5. Application fee USD $50.00 or ZWL equivalent.

This is a licence issued to operators of those countries, Zimbabwe has not signed Bilateral Road Transport Agreements with and is not member states of COMESA. It is also issued to foreign operators who want to do cabotage i.e the right to operate within a particular territory.

The license can be issued for transiting Zimbabwe for both goods and/or passengers. The licence is valid for a minimum of fourteen days in terms of payment and maximum of eight-four days).
