Disability Affairs
The Government of Zimbabwe is committed to advance the rights of Persons with Disabilities. In order to improve access to rights based services by Persons with Disabilities by December 2030, a new department the Disability Affairs was created in January 2018. The Department seeks to provide rights based social protection services for Persons with Disabilities. This is in line with the Constitution, Convection on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Plan and implement publicity strategies and campaigns for the Ministry programs and
services, Manage the Ministry’s positive use of media, Monitor media reports and public opinions regarding Ministry’s programmes and projects.

Gender Mainistreaming, Wellness and Inclusivity
Provide technical support and advice on capacity building, knowledge building and
management of gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness issues to the Permanent
Secretary and Coordinate the formulation, implementation and evaluation of gender mainstreaming,
inclusivity and wellness policies, strategies and programmes in the Ministry in consultation
with Heads of Departments and make recommendations to the Permanent Secretary;

The Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, Honorable Professor Paul Mavima, commissioned the refurbished St Tropez apartments in Eastlea, owned by the National Social Security Authority (NSSA). This transformation of an idle asset into a revenue-generating property demonstrates effective investment strategies
The Deputy Director of Employment Services, Vimbai Chiza, spearheaded training for private employment agencies and employment officers in Bulawayo. The goal is to establish fair and ethical recruitment standards, combat human trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labor, and unfair labor practices
The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry, Mr. Simon Masanga, and the United Nations Zimbabwe Country Coordinator, Edward Kallon, addressed SDGs focal persons during a mid-year review workshop. This initiative tracks the implementation progress of SDGs in Zimbabwe.
Senior management participated in an Executive Management Development Program with ESAMI. This program aims to foster positive work culture within the ministry.
The department of Strategic Policy Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation conducted an SOP development workshop for all ministry departments in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province. SOPs enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and uniformity in staff operations.
The Chinese government donated over 2000 tonnes of rice and wheat flour to Zimbabwe, addressing food shortages in care homes. Minister Mavhima lauded this donation as a significant step in bilateral relations between the two countries.
