Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare

Business services is a general term that describes work that supports a business but does not produce a tangible commodity. Information technology is important.

Labour Administration

The Department is tasked with promoting of a conducive labour market environment, fair labour standards, labour productivity and efficient employment placement services.

Social Development

The Department of Social Development aims reduce poverty and enhance self-reliance through the provision of social protection services to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in Zimbabwe.

Employment Services and Promotion

Manage the development and review of legislation and policies on employment in accordance with national development imperatives and priorities and Develop and review national employment programmes to promote decent work.

Disability Affairs

The Government of Zimbabwe is committed to advance the rights of Persons with Disabilities. In order to improve access to rights based services by Persons with Disabilities by December 2030, a new department the Disability Affairs was created in January 2018. The Department seeks to provide rights based social protection services for Persons with Disabilities. This is in line with the Constitution, Convection on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Communication and Advocacy

Plan and implement publicity strategies and campaigns for the Ministry programs and services, Manage the Ministry’s positive use of media, Monitor media reports and public opinions regarding Ministry’s programmes and projects. and Maintain the highest visibility of the Ministry in old and new media including on line media.

Gender Mainistreaming, Wellness and Inclusivity

Provide technical support and advice on capacity building, knowledge building and management of gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness issues to the Permanent Secretary and Coordinate the formulation, implementation and evaluation of gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness policies, strategies and programmes in the Ministry in consultation with Heads of Departments and make recommendations to the Permanent Secretary;
